Spring Meeting (Vendors Day) |
Please mark the following important dates on your calendar:
Brenda Southerland, program coordinator and Dave Beem, vendor coordinator, for our April 10th spring meeting at Cobb Galleria have insured there is something for everyone interested in the IH field. In addition to a diverse technical program, there will be vendor displays, lunch, door prizes, and great opportunities for networking. (All pocket protectors welcome!) Thank you Brenda and Dave for your hard work on this meeting.
Please take a little time before laying this newsletter aside to mail your ballots for GLS officer/board members and the by-laws change. Consider your vote as a way of showing your appreciation for those who are willing to provide personal time and effort to further our profession! If you have any questions regarding the proposed change in by-laws, don't hesitate to contact me or any of the other officers/board members.
In closing, I want to congratulate all of the active GLS members and encourage those who haven't been able to attend meetings to "just do it"! The local section has had a very successful year thanks to interested members and the excellent work of the officers and board. I have found it very rewarding to be associated with this group and their "can do" attitude. I'm looking forward to coming attractions from GLS in 2000.
The GLS is co-sponsoring the Professional Development Conference that will be hosted by the Augusta Chapter ASSE on May 8-9, 2000 at the Radisson Riverwalk in Augusta, Georgia. Thanks to Phil Williams for coordinating presentations that will be presented by several AIHA members. All GLS members should have received information about the conference via e-mail or post. You can also download the PDC brochure and registration form from the GLS website at:

This looks like a great opportunity to pick up some new technical information. CSP-COC and CIH-CM points will be awarded. This year's conference theme is Safety, It's Your Business. The individual registration fee is $145. Your fee includes the PDC, Expo, breakfast and lunch on both days, and admission to the Cocktail Hour on Monday evening. ASSE and AIHA members will receive a 10% discount. If you would like more information please contact Matthew Parker at 803-641-0100 or visit the PCD webpage at:

A couple of new entries have been added to the Other Links page. Under the Toxic Substances heading you'll find MSDSOnline.com, a site that offers electronic distribution of MSDSs. Registration for their basic service is free. Speaking of free, there is a website offering links to free environmental, health, and safety software. It's called EHSFreeware.com and you'll find a link to the site under Freeware and Shareware Applications. Check them out when you get a chance. Also, if you find a website you think would make a good addition to our Other Links page, please tell me about it. My email address is sas4@bellsouth.net
