INDUSTRIAL HYGIENISTS and SAFETY PROFESSIONALS RECOGNITION ACT

 
The Purpose of the Act is to Provide Legal Recognition to the Professions of Industrial Hygiene and Safety, and Provide Assurance to the Public that Persons Representing Themselves as Being Certified in the Professions of Industrial Hygiene and Safety, Have Met Minimum Qualifications, Thereby Protecting the Public Health and Safety from Harm.

What the Act Does:

Makes it a deceptive and unfair trade practice for a person to use specific titles (listed below) unless the person has met the education, experience and examination requirements of the American Board of Industrial Hygiene and/or the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, and holds a current, valid certificate from one or both Boards.

What the Act Does NOT Do:

Does not preclude any qualified person from performing industrial hygiene or safety functions.

Does not restrict the practice of any other profession.

Does not require Georgia to establish licensing or any other regulatory scheme.
